Float

1. My inspiration for this photo was a rocket flying into space, story wise there really isnt one, i just wanted to make him look unreal.
2. Some challenges were getting the sky and him in it perfectly, i overcame it by using the tripod and having him jump next to them closely.
3. For this photo i didn't really face any challenge because it was one of the first photos i took outside.

1.My inspiration for this photo was just trying to make her floating seem very unrealistic, I just wanted to make to make her seem god-like.
2. Some challenges with trying to get this shot was making her not look like she was sitting on the hill, so i overcame this by adding the little portion of the bench in the photo to make her look like she was floating.
3. For this photo it took me awhile to plan this in my head because I wanted to make it look as good as possible, I resolved this by moving her and the chair around til i got the prefect shot.

1. My inspiration for this photo was based god, I wanted to make him look almost god-like
2. Some challenges were trying to get his feet straight to give off the allusion that he was floating, i overcame this by taking this picture many times.
3. From an artistic view i kinda had to think out the actual action before i took the picture, and it seems to have come out the way i precieved.

Poses

 - In front of the Media Center.
- The lighting from the sun was too bright and overexposing her face.
-This was one of my best just because of her expression, and the cool background of the tree.
-I could try and not cut off her elbow the next time.

-We were on the hill by the vending machines.
-Prior to getting this shot I had issues with things being in the background.
-This stood out because of the background and the sky turning from light blue to darker blue.
-Something that I could improve would be to try and get more light on the side of his face.

Standing tall above

-We were on a bench near the Q-Hut
-Prior to this shot I had problems with people being in the background.
-This stood out mostly because of how I like the lighting on her face and the expression.
-Something I could improve would be to try and move the tree off to the right more.

- We were on a bench near the front of the gym.
- Prior to this shot I had issues with trying to move a trashcan out of the background.
-This image stood out because of the leading line i was able to put in the background even though the wall is kinda blank color.
-Something that I could improve would be to try and put more color in the background.

Sitting above

-We were on a wall next to the bathrooms by the media center.
-Prior to this shot I had problems with trying to not get the wall too blown out.
-This image stood out because I like her expression, and that there is a leading line as well.
-Something that could be improved would be to try to get a little more lighting on her face.

-Prior to this shot I had problems with trying to not get the wall too blown out.
-This image stood out mostly because I like the expression on her face, since she i looking away.
-Something that I could improve would be to try and get some more lighting on her face, and not cut off her fingers.

Wall Chill above

-We were on a bench near the Q-Hut
-Prior to this shot I had issues with trying not to get people in the background.
-This image stood out because it looks like she is actually using her phone.
-Something that I could improve would be to try and put a little less light on her face.
-We were on the grass near the Q-hut
-Prior to this shot I had issues with people being in the background.
-This image stood out because it was one of the only serious pictures of him.
-Something that I could improve would be to try and get less things in the background.

Enviromental above

 - We were on the hill near the Q-Hut
- Prior to this shot I had issues with birds being in the background on the ledge.
-This image stood out because I like the expression, and the angle that she is facing.
-Something that I could improve would be to try and not get so many objects in the background.
-We were in the bushes by the Q-Hut
-Prior to this shot I had issues with his eyes being closed.
-This image stood out because I like how the bushes frame his face.
-Something that I could improve would be to try and get the extra branches out of his face.

 Final Questions:
1.What was the most challenging element of this assignment? How did you overcome this challenge?

-The most challenging element of this assignment was trying to get 50 high quality pictures, and I overcame this challenge by taking as many pictures possible and then sorting through them.

2. Explain how your photography skills have changed/improved since September (i.e. what are you more confident in now, what technical challenges/issues have you overcome, etc.)

-My photography skills have improved in the ways that Im more confident in taking a lot of pictures instead of just like 10. Im also mor confident in using the basics like rule of thirds, leading lines etc. I now am also more confident in judging wether or not a background is going to blown out or not.

3. What things are you interested in learning before the end of the year?

-Something that I would be interested in learning before the end of the year would be how to take some proper black and white pictures.

Vermeer photos

Vermeer Questions:

1. Some challenges with this assignment was trying and getting the lighting right and trying not to blow out the background or face of the model. Another challenge was trying to make sure there wasn't anything distracting in the background like other students or golf carts. And lastly another challenge was making the model look in OK condition and not weird looking.

2. The challenges of being a model was that trying to do what the photographer exactly wanted in their photo, and sometimes it was hard to follow. Another challenge was trying to make sure the photographer wasn't taking picture of you that made you look weird.

3. In my opinion a good model is someone who follows directions from the photographer and try's to give off a natural expression and not a fake one. And a good photographer is someone who utilizes lighting and backgrounds to give the picture the best feel and look of the model.

PhotoAnalysis: Portraits

1. In this portait there is a very old aged man who seems to be wearing his thick glasses crooked and seems to be looking at something behind the photographer.
2. I see that his facial/Mouth has a weird expression on it and that he is looking off far into the distance behind the photographer, I also notice that there is nothing behind the man except darkness.
3. Some things that I can infer are that, he has bad sight, he's been around the block, and has giant ears.
4. I would like to know what his eyes are looking at, and why his glasses are crooked.

1. In the picture there is a boy sitting on something, and it seems like he is winding up the rope for a kite.
2. In my eyes it seems like he might be in shipyard and he is winding up the line to his kite so he could possibly throw it again.
3. Some things that I could infer are that he is of asian descent, he has a box kite, and may be poor.
4. I would like to know how old he is and where he is at flying this kite.

 1. In this photograph there is a mom holding her baby in her arms while here daughter puts her head on her shoulder, and they are all underneath what seems to be some kind of tent.
2. In this I see that the mom must be in some kind of sad/ upset mood, i also see that they may be camping because of the tent or they are just poor because of her daughter messy look and dirtiness.
3. Something that I could infer would be that the mom isnt in the best of moods, the daughter is somewhat sad, and they baby in her arms is asleep.
4. In this photo I would like to know what the mom is looking at and why she is in a certain mood, I would also like to know why they are in a tent and where they are.

1. I this picture there is only a man with many wrinkles and glasses that are big for his face and that they are also crooked like the other old dude.
2. I see that this man is of very decent age because of all his wrinkles on his face and that he also may have bad vision like the previous old dude.
3.Something that I can infer is that he is of a decent age, Had many facial features, and has a story.
4. In this photo I would like to know what his life has been like, and if he is a war vet or something along the lines.

1. In this picture there is this man with a heavy winter coat in the snow with a animal hat smoking a cigarette.
2. I see that he has some very squinty eyes and seems to be looking at something out of the shot. I also see that it must be very cold where hes at because hes wearing a fur hat and is also wearing a heavy jacket.
3. In this I can infer that he is somewhere it snows or is cold, He  is a middle aged man or a little bit older, and he does somekind of manual work judging by the look of his hands.
4. I would like to know what he is looking at, I would also like to find out what his occupation is and if it has anything to do with winter.

MIDTERM PORTFOLIO

RULE OF THIRDS
1. The rock is proportionally to the bottom left where the cross hairs are, and it also uses a good shallow depth of field.
2. Something that might make this photo stronger is to focus in more
on the rock.

FILL THE FRAME
1. The wheel is a good example because the only subject in the photo is the wheel and the shallow depth of field focuses your attention on the wheel.
2. Something that might make the photo better would be to have a different colored background.

LINES
1. This photo is da best for lines because the lines are in focus and lead your eye towards the bluriness.
2. Something that might make this picture better would be to have a subject that the lines lead to.

ANGLES
1. This is da best representation because the angle is kinda different and uses a line to point your eye to the focal point.
2. Something that might make this photo better would be to have the subject closer.

PATTERNS
1. This photo is da best because with the yellow lines contrasting with the green it gives a clear definition of patterns on the leaf.
2. Something in this photo that would make it better would be to have some better lighting.

FRAMING
1. This photo is da best because the sunglass frame points you focus straight on the reflection of the flower.
2. Something that might make this photo better would be to focus tighter on the flowers reflection.

ABC's
1. This photo is da best because looking at the photo and the angle it clearly shows a X shape plus with all the little bits of dirt outlines it.
2. Something that might be better in this photo would be to have a little better focus on it.

SHUTTER SPEED
1. This photo is da best because I was able to turn up the shutter speed and capture them both in the middle of a stride.

2. Something that could be better would be to focus in a little tighter on them.

PANNING
1. This photo is the da best because of panning because it has the driver and car in total focus with the background blurred.
2. Something that could be better would be to focus in a little tighter on the subject.

DEPTH OF FIELD
1. This photo is da best because it has him in total focus and the background in total blur. So it focuses your attention on him
2. Something that could be better in this photo would be to get a little less light.

WILD CARD
1. This photo is my wildcard because I like the lighting and the use of repetition of leaves and also with the foreground being blurred and the background too.
2. Something that could be better in this photo would be the lighting and having it a little bit lighter.

RESPONSE QUESTIONS:

1. The biggest challenge in this class would be trying to get as much good quality photos as I need to obtain in one hour. I would say that I have been able to overcome this obstacle. There is nothing Mr.P can do to help me overcome this.

2. My biggest success in this class would be turning all photos on time and getting high quality pictures. This stands out to me because I feel that I am doing my job correctly. This will help me on my journey into second semester because I will be able to keep up with the work.

3. Something that I am most interested in learning next is to take all my skills like rule of thirds, Apeture technique etc. and honing them all together and putting them all into one photo to produce a high quality picture.

4. One thing that Mr.P can do to improve the exprience might be to just keep on doing what he is doing.

5. One thing that I can improve in this class would be to pay attention and listen closely to what the  assignment and make sure I follow all directions.

2. For this photo I just wanted to sharpen his facial features
3. There is nothing else in this photo I would like to fix

Before

After
1. I used a high pass filter and a levels adjustment
2. For this photo its okay because the side of his face is kinda dark and facial features are sorta blurred
3. I wish i could lighten his face but not make it look kinda washed out

FINAL QUESTIONS:
1. Shallow depth of field is when you use a lower f-stop and focus on usually one subject and use a blurred background to point the viewers focus on that subject, while a large depth of field is when you use a higher f-stop and have everything in focus and want the viewer to see everything in crispness.
2. To decide when to use either function, you want to consider if you are trying to capture motion or trying to capture something that is still and want in total focus. So if you want the first thing you would use TV mode, but if you are trying to capture something still then you would use AV mode.
3. The hardest part of this assignment was trying to distance yourself from the subject and the background so you can get that bokeh affect.
